- Take the ACT (tests what you have learned) or the SAT (tests reasoning and verbal abilities). In, The Complete Guide to Homeschooling, John and Kathy Perry advise to," always leave the code for the high school blank" and to, "make sure to fill out the section directing where a copy of the test results should be sent with your home address" (pg 180).
- After a lawsuit in November 2015, it was determined that ACT and College Board have the right to sell data from their test takers. To prevent ACT and College Board from selling your child's information, the student has to opt out on the ACT form and opt-in on the SAT form.
- Gather letters of recommendation
- Put together portfolio or transcript depending on the college (The Carnegie system uses a minimum of 120 hours = 1 credit. If you homeschool for 180 days a year, 4 hours each day, then your student is eligible for 6 credits per year or 24 credits by the end of high school.
